A ‘Charmed’ reunion is imminent, but it’s not what you think

Based on a recent post by the ABC Network, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano, best known for playing Piper Halliwell and Phoebe Halliwell respectively in the hit 2000’s T.V show ‘Charmed, are set for an onscreen reunion in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy airing October 10th.

In case you happen to stop any millennials on the street and asked them which T.V series they liked most in their upbringing, there’s a high probability that ‘Charmed’ will be a common mention among them. For 8 years between October 1998 to May 2006, fans of the supernatural fantasy genre got to enjoy a one of a kind show about 3 gifted sisters who use their inherent paranormal abilities to fight off evil spirits and demonic entities. The main cast included Holly Marie Combs as Piper, Alyssa Milano as Phoebe, Shannen Doherty as Prue and Rose Mcgowan as Paige Mathhews, who replaced Shannen after her character was killed off.

If the combined popularity of ‘Charmed’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is anything to go by, it’s safe to say that the ABC Network which airs the mentioned medical drama is set to anticipate a considerable spike in the viewership come October 10th. ABC shared a snap from the episode on the Grey’s Anatomy Instagram account on Monday, showing the two actresses in character at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

In the episode featuring the actresses, a patient at Grey Sloan becomes brain dead following a fall and her sisters (played by Combs and Milano) must make a tough decision on whether to keep her alive or not.

In addition to the two actresses getting to work together once again, the storyline also sees Milano and newlywed Combs reunite with Krista Vernoff and Andy Reaser, who were writers on Charmed and now work as executive producers on Grey’s Anatomy.

Shonda Rhimes‘ beloved series is one of the longest running T.V series ever and also the longest-running medical drama on American television (with 330+ episodes!) — surpassing ER, the NBC series that premiered in 1994 and signed off after 15 seasons. The ground-breaking 16th season of the show will air on September 26th.
